Douglas Buck to adapt "The Open Curtain"

Tuesday, December 1, 2009

We are very excited to announce that writer/director Douglas Buck will be co-writing the adaptation of "The Open Curtain" alongside Francois Murray and author Brian Evenson.

Evenson's tale of teenage devolution, and of the darker corners of the Mormon faith, lends itself beautifully to Doug Buck's aesthetics as a screenwriter. Buck's style and approach to the subject of psychological violence, can easily be compared to that of cult filmmakers Polanski, Haneke and Cronenberg.

Says Douglas Buck about his involvement with the adaptation:
"I'm thrilled to be taking part in adapting a novel from such an important contemporary writer as Brian Evenson. The subject matter, the characters, everything about 'The Open Curtain' feels very closely aligned with my own sensibilities as a filmmaker. I feel that together we'll do something quite powerful with what is already an extraordinary story."
